Magen David

The hexagonal star, formed by two isosceles triangles, is known as the Star of David. Its name is associated with the shape of the biblical king's shield. It is, along with the seven-light lamp, one of the most recognizable symbols of Jewish identity and Judaism.

Matzah

It is the unleavened bread that is symbolically eaten on the Seder and throughout Pesach, as leavened foods are forbidden according to the Torah (Ex. 12:8, 18; B. 16:3).

Menorah

The Menorah is among the holiest and oldest symbols of Judaism and, as such, is today the national emblem of the State of Israel. It is the seven-light lamp with its distinctive shape, used in the Tabernacle of Witness and the Temple in Jerusalem (Ex 25:31-40).

Mishnah

The collection of oral rabbinic teachings, the “Oral Torah”, recorded in the early 3rd century CE, contains the basic rules of the Jewish way of life concerning agriculture, Temple offerings, Shabbat and festivals, as well as administrative and penal laws and rituals.
